Frequently asked
Are these the real live Google results?
Yes. The tool calls a Google-scraping API (scrape.do primary or SerpAPI fallback) which fetches the live Google SERP for your keyword + country in real time, then parses the top 10 organic results. We cache for 24 hours per (keyword, country) so two people checking the same query in the same day get an instant cached response.
Why does Country matter?
Google personalizes search results by geography. The top 10 for "car insurance" in the US looks very different from the UK or India. The country selector sets Google's `gl` (geo-location) parameter so the scrape returns the SERP a user IN that country would see — not just the language. We support 10 countries (US/UK/IN/CA/AU/DE/FR/JP/BR/SG) which cover the largest English/EU/APAC markets.
What does "via scrape.do" or "via serpapi" mean?
Citare runs two SERP providers in parallel — scrape.do (primary, cheaper) and SerpAPI (fallback). When one provider's free quota fills or returns an error, the tool transparently falls back to the other. The badge on each result shows which provider served that specific check. The data shape is identical either way.
Do you fetch AI Overviews, People-Also-Ask, or other SERP features?
Not on this tool — it returns the top 10 organic results only. AI Overviews and PAA blocks are separate panels Google injects above/inline; we surface those in Citare's Brand Radar tool (paid). The free SERP Checker focuses on organic ranking, which is what most users want for keyword research + competitor checks.
What's the rate limit?
30 checks per hour per IP. After that you'll see a 429 "Too many requests" response — wait an hour or check from a different IP. The 24-hour cache also softens this in practice: re-checking the same (keyword, country) doesn't burn quota.
Can I check rankings for a specific domain?
Use the Keyword Rank Checker for that — it returns just your domain's position for the keyword (or 100+ if out of the top 100). The SERP Checker is for browsing the full top 10 with all titles/URLs/snippets, which is more useful for competitor research + content gap analysis.
